At its February Board Meeting, Pioneer Center voted to assist Tim Malone in the pursuit of his dream to drive a car. Rick Marriott, Superintendent of Pioneer Center, stated, "Pioneer Center gave the young man $400 to buy tires for his kart. This money came out of a budget account dedicated to funds that come into our agency from outside donations. We get donations from community groups and individuals who usually tell us to use the funds to help the people in our program in any way we feel is appropriate.
And what is appropriate? Pioneer’s Mission Statement, which sets a standard to gauge all of our actions upon, states we should be “improving lives by supporting choices of people through community partnerships and quality services.” Our goal is to assist people with DD (developmental disabilities) to be as independent as possible, to have the kinds of lives we all take for granted. We all believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We all believe that people should be able to determine their own life goals and activities."
GOOD LUCK TIM!
