Recent Donations to Pioneer

Thanks to Everyone!

Pioneer Center has recently been blessed with donations from various people and organizations.  These donations are used to fund extra activities and projects that can be accessed when the need arises. We are very appreciative of these donations! Recent donations include:

Roosters Restaurant: Donated a dinner for Pioneer students and families and a generous donation for the Track and Field Project.

Knights of Columbus: This organization donates generously to Pioneer and in addition, sponsors a "Free Throw" contest every year, donating trophies, medals, and T-shirts.

The Viet Nam Motorcycle Vets Club: This club has consistently donated money to fund extracurricular projects at Pioneer.

Doctor Villarreal and his office: Each year at the Ross County Fair, Dr. Richard Villarreal and his staff at Chillicothe OB-GYN sponsors a baby contest. The money raised for this contest goes to Pioneer Center. In addition, his office creates calendars from the photos of the winning babies. They are available at Pioneer Center: Please contact Kari Karshner at (740) 773-2165, or kkarshner@rossdd.org.

The Charleston Church of the Brethren: Thanks to the Charleston Church of the Brethren for its recent generous donation for our Track and Field project!

Pioneer Center begins Being Safe Classes
Being Safe Classes Available

Administration and Support personnel from Pioneer, in cooperation with Goodwill Industries, have been conducting a series of classes for adult women called “Being Safe.” The curriculum for these classes consists of creating awareness of potential safety hazards in every day living. The classes are 9 weeks long, and end with a graduation ceremony. Four women just graduated on Jan. 6. For more information, contact Director of Administration and Support Services Laura K. Martin, at (740) 775-7044, or lkmartin@rossdd.org.

Basketball Reunion March 27
Anyone who's ever played or cheered for the Pioneer Tigers is Invited!

Cass Stull, Pioneer School's long time Coach, has come up with the great idea that the school should have a reunion of all basketball players, cheeleaders, and water boys who've ever played for the Pioneer Tigers Basketball team.

The date for this fun event will be Saturday, March 27, at Pioneer School, 11268 County Rd. 550, Chillicothe, Ohio, 45601.

Lots of events are planned (download additional information below.) We'd like to get all reservations in my March 1, 2010, so we can get a count for chairs and food. For more information, email Cass Stull at cstull@rossdd.org, or call her at (740) 773-2165.

On Track…The Cass Stull Track and Field
Pioneer Center is still collecting donations to fund this project!

After our successful T-Ball program last spring, using various facilities around the town of Chillicothe, parents, students, and staff of Pioneer Center decided to build their own “Field of Dreams.”  From the beginning, Pioneer Center and Cass Stull, Adaptive Phys Ed teacher at Pioneer School, have been adamant that these renovations be paid for by donations, and they are coming in regularly. The track and field renovations have been divided into several phases: rebuilding the current track, building a modified T-Ball field in the center of the track, fencing the area, and building a shelter with water and electric connections. It is the intention of Pioneer Center that these facilities will be open to the public as well as our Center.

We have successfully completed the track and T-Ball field, and also installed new fencing. As a result, kids and adults using wheelchairs can access the newly asphalted track.

Next step? We need a shelter house with water and bathroom facilities. Please help us if you can!!
For more information, contact Cass Stull at (740) 773-2165, or the Center’s Business Manager, Dave Voskuhl at (740) 773-8044.
