"What to do if the weather is bad!"

 WEATHER ALERT TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Pioneer Center has instituted an automatic phone call system to inform staff and students if there are closings or delays due to bad weather or other situations. If you are not getting called for such a situation, please call the Superintendent's office at 773-8044.
You may also listen to the local radio station or Gazette, and both these media outlets will have closings and delays on their web sites.

In addition, this website will also post changes in schedules due to weather.

For your information, "Pioneer Center" and the "Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities (DD)" are the same entity.

Please call us if you have questions at 773-8044 or the school office at 773-2165. Please also feel free to contact your child’s bus driver with questions.

SSA POLICY ON WEATHER CLOSINGS
Service and Support Administration staff weather policies can differ from school closing policies:

Weather Closing Information for the SSA Office:

When Pioneer Center is having an Early Release

·       When Pioneer School is having an early release it means that our adult buses will be running early.  It does not mean that the adult day programs are closing early.  City Transit will still be running at regular time.

·       Melissa Givens will notify all bus drivers. Our bus drivers will notify family/providers of consumers on their route. If the bus driver is unable to reach the party they will contact the SSA directly for further assistance.

·       John Hocker will confirm that the Adult Day providers have been notified.

When Pioneer Center is Closed or has a AM Delay

·       If Pioneer is closed or on an AM delay Melissa Givens will call all Pioneer bus drivers and Adult Day providers.

·       Pioneer Van routes will run as normal for Community Employment consumers.

·       Pioneer Van routes transporting people to Adult Day Programs will not be running on days when Pioneer is closed. If there is an AM delay van routes will be running on the am delay identified along with all other Pioneer buses.

City Transit

·       They will only modify their routes if there is a LEVEL 3 Emergency declared in Ross County.

·       City Transit is closed Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve

If There is a Power Outage in Our County

·       A Pioneer building or provider may be designated as a “shelter in place” location where consumers are bused to.

If an Adult Provider Agency decides to close or have an AM delay

·       The Provider shall be responsible for contacting City Transit to let them know not to pick up their consumers and communicating the message to their consumers of the decision.
